Sa Suffit - Ascot 21st January

Sa Suffit | Ascot | 3:45 | 2m 5f | Betvictor.com Handicap Chase

Jockey: Brian Hughes

Sponsor: Reid Quantum

Thoughts:

Sa Suffit has long been the stable stalwart & star of the yard, he is the highest rated horse we have in training and when an opportunity of this value arises at probably his correct trip which is 2m 5f we have to take it.

When he ran in the fixed brush Hurdle at Haydock Park and Dynaste beat him it was a very good performance, however he appeared not to get the 3m absolutely on the ground- which was heavy at Haydock that day.

I think the slight difference in trip and bringing him back to 2m 5f will bring out the best in him. He was beaten only a length and three quarters at Wetherby the last time over 2m and half a furlong, so it is definitely his right trip.

The handicapper thinks he is about right with his mark and now we will actually test whether his Handicap mark is reliable in the South in comparison to the North. Normally Southern horses have a big Handicap advantage on us because of the superior numbers of races and quality of horses, but I am hoping he can run a very competitive race in what is a very valuable race and I hope that he will finish in the first three.
