JER - A Round up of the weekends runners, Aristo Du Plessis winning and more...

Round up of the weekend runners;

Aristo Du Plessis... What a horse! An incredible start to the New Year for us here at James Ewart Racing. We couldn't have been happier with Aristo’s performance at Musselburgh in the Totepool Hogmaneigh Hurdle for John and Jill Dodd who have had a very difficult Christmas so this was a lovely tonic for them. In the hands of Diarmuid O'Regan with usual pilot Dale Irving on the sidelines they quickly worked each other out - namely Aristo was in charge! But seriously he is maturing with every race and becoming the complete professional and we look forward to a spring campaign at one of the festivals - what dreams are all about.

Some interesting statistics for you, Aristo only has two horses with lower ratings above him in most winning horses in the U.K. He is also well up the table now and is Scotland’s highest rated Hurdler - above stars such as Silviano Conti, this is really promising for his future and the yard.

It was great to see Sa Suffit our veteran stalwart running into 3rd at Ayr he still loves the game at 13 and owes us nothing. Scorpions Sting is a highly complicated horse and a switch back to hurdles may be on the cards to try and regain some confidence and ideally a sounder surface. He has ability but has largely been disappointing.

At Musselburgh on Monday we have declared the following:

Rockawango15.00 Handicap Chase - a race that looks like it's cut right up although far from ideal but he can hopefully run a big race.

Rocklim will need a Handicap mark and we will see him in the 12.20 Maiden Hurdle with Lucy Alexander.

Touch of Steel should be our best chance in the 14.25 Handicap Hurdle.

For the rest of the week we have the following proposed:

Ueueteotl and/or Lord Wishes in the 14.10 Henderson Handicap Chase at Newcastle on the 7th January.

Lord Wishes in the 14.00 Handicap Chase at Wetherby on the 8th January

Roc De Prince in a ‘Amateur Riders’ Handicap Hurdle also at Wetherby over 2 miles 3 ½ Furlongs, for horses rated 0-100.

Thanks for the continued support and well wishes over the weekend, it is an incredible boost to the team at home and makes the hard work with it!
