Race Reports

Monday 19th July – Cartmel.   Going good

Empire de Maulde ran another cracking race in the PSR Handicap Chase over 3 miles 1 ½ furlongs. It is hard to believe that he is still only a seven year old and he has become a true professional - a model of consistency.  Ridden by Brian Hughes he was kept wide as the inside track had become very broken up after two days racing.   Cartmel is not the ideal track for such a big galloping horse but he had every chance until the last when he was pushed wide but he was still only beaten into second place by 1 ½ lengths.   He was conceding a massive 22 lbs to the winner who had previously won three times at this track so this was a very good performance.   It was an extremely hot and tiring day and so Empire is now on a well-deserved break.

Wednesday 28th July – Perth.   Going good

For Three returned to the scene of his former triumph at Perth in the 2 mile Handicap Hurdle and this time was ridden by Brian Hughes.   He was given a brilliant ride by Brian who took the lead at a steady pace until just before two out when he increased the tempo.

For Three answered his call and went clear to win by 4 ¾ lengths.  He is really enjoying his racing and is a very slick hurdler.

We have an entry at Perth on Saturday 14th August.
