Back-to-Back Wins

The horses are continuing to run well, and it was great to see Escapeandevade continue his good form and follow up his win at Sedgefield with a victory at Kelso on Friday 16th February.

Neil and Sally Ewart held their very successful Snowdrop Day last Sunday and were so lucky with a lovely sunny afternoon and Jack enjoyed being in the woods alongside the river.

James has just been down to the Tattersalls Sale at Cheltenham and purchased two very exciting new horses.  Details will follow in the next blog.

Racing Round Up

Beat Box and Juge Et Parti went to Newcastle on Wednesday 14th February where the going was particularly testing.

Beat Box won BTO for Leah and was ridden by Brian Hughes in the 2 mile Handicap Hurdle.   He jumped really well and put up his usual game performance. to finish fourth.  He loves this type of going but his handicap mark is too high at the moment.

Juge Et Parti (Danny McMenamin) raced really enthusiastically for most of the way but then just got tired before the end to finish fifth.   His handicap mark as well is too high at the moment.

At Kelso on Friday March 16th, the going was soft - heavy in places - when Escapeandevade ran in the 2m Handicap Chase.  Brian Hughes took him down to the start early to keep him calm and gave him a brilliant ride.   We were concerned about the free-running Salamanca Bay as Escape likes to have his head in front.   However when he was overtaken at the second fence Brian was able to settle him in behind where he looked happy and relaxed.   This was a big step forward and when he was asked to quicken just before three out, he responded well and went past Salamanca Bay in a matter of strides to go on and win by 3 1/2 lengths.   This was a very encouraging performance and our thanks must also go to Charles Marini who rides him every day at home and has some interesting moments!
