Lake Takapuna is a 9yo by Shantou and a 4 times winner over hurdles and chase. He is suited by a flat galloping track like Doncaster Haydock etc. He is an exciting addition to the yard who has two Chase and two Hurdles wins under his belt in Ireland. Lake Takapuna was purchased for us by Bobby O'Ryan at the Goffs Horses in Training September sales 2019. A very slick jumper he was unlucky just to lose 3rd place at Doncaster last time out to Native Robin. He likes a sound surface and is down to a more favourable mark now off 118.
Shantou was a top-class performer at 12-14 furlongs and won the St. Leger and the Princess of Wales Stakes when trained by John Gosden. He has proved a very successful sire of National Hunt horses including Shantou Flyer, Beware the Bear and The Storyteller. The Dam Close to Shore has produced four foals including Lake Takapuna and they have won a total of 13 races.
