- Black Pirate (GB)
- Black Sam Bellamy (IRE) - Proper Posh (GB)
- Leeds Plywood & Doors
Winner 67% of the time and 83% placed, Black Pirate is now the winner of two bumpers at Wetherby and Ayr and two hurdles at Wetherby and Kelso. He is undoubtedly a stable star but has unfortunately, as is so often the case with the star performers, been quite difficult to train in terms of his fragility and also picked up a pelvic injury last time out at Kelso. He has only been beaten twice – once in the Scottish Champion Bumper by 142 rated Sebastapol who was a subsequent Scottish County Hurdle winner and at Kelso when he was injured yet still managed to finish fourth. It would be fantastic to have a clear run with him now going novice chasing. Brian Hughes has been in to school him and it will be all systems go once the rain falls. He has a lot of extra daily attention with water physio and massage and stretching to try and ensure we keep all the wheels on. This is a huge team effort behind the scenes which we hope will pay dividends on course.
Black Sam Bellamy is half- brother of Galileo and Sea The Stars and has proved to be a good NH sire and we are lucky enough to have four youngsters by him before he died as an 19 year old. His star performers include The Giant Bolster, Sam Spinner and Sam Brown.
His Dam was unraced but the Grand Dam has produced three black-type performers, Hobbs Hill winner of two Grade 2 Novice Chases, Posh Pearl second in Aintree Champion Bumper and Hollies Pearl a Listed winner of Bumpers and Hurdles. The third Dam produced three winners including Pearlyman – a top class 2 mile Chaser and Listed Hurdle winner Poetic Gem.
