The First TapetaTM National Hunt Training Track in the UK

We chose our five furlong TapetaTM gallop because it provides cushioning properties during training allowing the following benefits:

  • Reduced injury rate to horse and jockey
  • Reduced kick back
  • Greater hind leg stability
  • 7-inch cushion
  • Vertical drainage system to ease maintenance
  • Environmentally friendly

What is TapetaTM?

A thoroughbred racing and training surface comprised of silica sand, wax and fibre. It handles wet weather and heavy rainfall extremely well.

Our TapetaTM Footings

Constructed in 2012 by Maurice Friel Plant Hire and Micheal Dickinson the track is situated inside our 5.5 furlong oval sand gallop. The track benefits from interior and exterior white plastic racing rails.

So far it has been an incredible asset to our facilities allowing us to train horses throughout the season.

Tapeta ™ Footings was delighted to provide a Training Surface for James Ewart at Craig Farm, Langholm. We are sure the surface will be a huge benefit to James and Briony in their training endeavours.

The surface has been regularly tested by hurricanes on the East Coast of the USA where we have anywhere between 6 and 11 inches of rain in 12 hours. We know Tapeta™ will perform well in the high rainfall area of Scotland.

Michael Dickinson, Joan Wakefield and the Tapeta™  Project Manager;  Migiuel Piedra wish James and Briony the Best of Luck for lots of winners in the future.

BE WELL, BE KIND, BE HAPPY.”
