A great owners and friends party on Sunday with 50 horses on parade all showing themselves off very well in the sunshine. I even did a few parades up and down myself but didn't get a write up in the notes - must put a request in to feature next time!
It was nice to meet Lucy Alexander I have heard a lot about her, with many similarities to myself, being pint sized, highly skilful, tough and brave. I look forward to going racing with her soon along with National winning rider Ryan Mania, Daragh Bourke, and our own 2014 Langholm Cornet Dale Irving - All come in to ride out weekly.
A big thank you to so many people who helped in making the owners day such a great day - all the team at home, chief flower arranger; Sally Ewart, not to mention Mary Irvine and Fran Brown and thank you to Cheviot Vets for the lovely hanging baskets around the yard. Also Thorniewhats Livery Yard owners John and Jenni Wharton and Nikki Graham for helping prepare horses.
A huge effort by everyone who travelled far and wide to join us, with special mentions to Bobby and Sheila O'Ryan from Ireland, George Vergette from France and Janet Whitley and Phillipa Netley from Exeter who probably ended up having the longest journey 12 hours on the road up.
In terms of the horses we have two newcomers from France, just arrived - Calva D’Honore and Calix Delafayette - named after the famous French shop! Look out for them on the smart newly revamped website.
Great to get off the mark with Sleep In First winning well at Cartmel at last we got the sticky toffee pudding - reportedly the winning jockey and trainers favourite! Jockey may have to wait until the end of the season as it's back to serious diet and training - after 4 trips into Langholm on Sunday taxing revellers to the after parties he was spotted out on the road running, what a true pro - May have to join him next time if I could manage to keep up.
Will Blog again soon,
so sorry I did not get to the parade day to see you and of course the horses parade but it sounded a great time. look forward to hearing more from your blog
