What a brilliant Aintree for the borders - it was great cheering on trainer Stuart Coltherd with Tartan Snow in the hands of Jamie Hamilton. Then Ryan Mania winning the Grand National for Sue and Harvey Smith with Auroras Encore, what a dream come true. I was sorry not to get back home to Aintree for a visit, with Beneficial Reform missing the cut by one so it is now Scottish National bound - no poor substitute!
Tartan Snow (Love the Rug)!
With Easter time here again the hens have been busy laying - unfortunately often in the horses mangers. It is lucky that the horses all have two breakfasts so no one goes hungry but I sometimes have to go round on an egg/hen watch!
It was great to have a couple of wins with Sleep in First and he now goes to Carlisle on Tuesday for new owner Andrew Campbell lets hope it is a lucky start for him.
Zaru has had a successful treatment for his heart fibrillation at Glasgow under Sandy Love and his excellent team.
James Smith was 4th in his first Point to Point on Melua Maid another good day out.
Melua Maid & James Smith
We are thinking of diversifying into wooden log cabin holiday homes in the summer, as the horses have all had new windows put in to aid ventilation and provide a room with a view!
It's been great to welcome Shona Carmichael back to the team and we wish Jamie well on route to riding on the flat so look out for him.
Some better ground everywhere so you will see plenty out over the next few weeks and also hopefully a Cheltenham trip beckons for Let's Get Serious (another course I'm looking forward to ticking off the list).
Good luck everyone
