Great start to the season for the team with 5 wins on the board so far - Lycidas at Kelso's well attended Ladies Day for Jim Gordon and Lucy Alexander. Lycidas is looking pretty useful over Hurdles - I remember not so long ago when we spent more time picking the poles up when he started jumping and we had to play chicken standing in front of his obstacles with Tom bravely on board to get him to slow down and not rush - quite good fun though!
Avidity then scored again for the same owner/jockey combination giving us our first winner at Bangor and a lovely warm reception which was nice for the boss, back on his old turf where he grew up and also where I was born. Paul Connelly (my breeder) and his family even came to see me and take my photo - its great being famous sometimes.
Then the home team David and me have a 100% strike rate so far with winners whilst the boss is enjoying the sunshine in Paxos celebrating with our Greek supporters Helen and Nick - thank you for the favourite Chateauneuf Du Pape!
It was David’s first time racing in 20 years! - With Ueueteotl scoring for the Dodds, Graham's and Sperling’s with Champion Northern Point to Point rider Kit Alexander. We followed up with Lord Wishes giving Dale Irving his first welcome winner back from injury and an important one to have on the board - good to have you back Dale.
Tomorrow we head to Cartmel with Sleep In First, who we saw romp in at Hexham last weekend, great news for all connections.
Plenty of horse shopping going on with trips to Ireland and France - a few snippets of alleged tales from the French trip - which sounded like a lot of fun with John and Jill Dodd (think it's nigh on time I got a passport!) One night the hotel apparently more closely resembled the Titanic but that did not stop them getting out to a smart Bordeaux restaurant! Speaking of goings on in France my namesake Lucy Alexander is away to Mr Macaires for the summer, I do hope she has an enjoyable time!
Then onto Ireland - apparently this one ended up with the trainer clearing out the bar trying to do Roxanne on the Karaoke! Looks like both trips sourced some nice new horses to look out for on the website soon so all worth it.
Finally, this week saw us win the CX Project Special Award at the CX Project Business Awards. The CX Project supports and funds business growth and development and we are grateful of the recognition and ongoing support.
Have a great summer all and see you soon.
P.s thanks to my publisher Laura Griffiths as always as my computer skills are fairly basic!
