Calix Delafayette is a gorgeous strong dark bay, now four years old. Briony and I saw him at the AQPS show in France, from the family of Yodeli and Urban Hymn. Looks and feels exceptional to ride, he has just completed his year of pre training and will make his Bumper debut this coming season.

The Sire Caballo Raptor is from the third crop of the Canadian bred son of Quest For Fame. Caballo Raptor won the ‘Grande Course De Haies Des 4 Ans’ (French Champion Hurdle) at Auteuil, beating Guns n Roses and subsequent Sandown Gold Cup winner Bounce Back and was the highest rated Hurdler in France in his final season in training.

As a sire from a small crop Caballo Raptor has had a good winning tally in France including six time Hurdle and Chase winner Badoudal a horse showing toughness and consistency with five of those wins gained on the bounce. He was also a very close 2nd at Auteuil in the Group 1 Prix Ferdinand Dufaure. And the four times winning Punchestown specialist Raptor, trained by Willie Mullins.

Dam Obepinedelafayette was placed once over the jumps as a 5yo before being turned to a broodmare. The Grand Dam Adelinette is unraced, producing 3 winners from 7 runners and 10 foals including Yodeli, whose half sister produced Urban Hymn. Dam Sire Sleeping Car won 3 of 5 starts on the flat, including Group 2 Prix Du Consell De Paris. He is a good jumps sire in France, progeny include Auteuil Prix Richard Et Robert Hennessy Listed Chase winner Sleeping Jack.

Calix will have his debut in a Bumper or two this season. He has worked well at home throughout last winter and looks really well after coming back from grass.
