Welcome To James Ewart Racing
Thank you for visiting the James Ewart Racing website, we hope it will provide you with some useful information on our Horses in Training, Horses for Sale, Facilities and training systems.
Here at Craig Farm we welcome you at any time to visit us and share the enjoyment of racehorse ownership in any capacity. We are delighted with how The Craig Farm Syndicate has taken off with Unex Canaletto winning at Kelso Racecourse at 25-1. We now also have running for The Craig Farm Syndicate prolific performer and 4-times winner last season Civil Unrest, the 8-times winning Sleep In First and the prolific winnerSnuker, so it is a really exciting syndicate to join for a reasonably priced fee of £26.50 per week all-in for a set period of 26 weeks starting 1st November. Hopefully between the three horses there will be lots of action these coming months.
Also our hospitality box at Kelso has been a huge success, a great meet and greeting point -all adding to the quality of the race day experience for our owners and friends. We will be looking at doing similar hospitality arrangements at our other local tracks with Perth Racecourse being next on the list.
We have an exceptional mix of surfaces to train our racehorses on, all excellent in their own right. The Sand Gallop, with deep sand for resistance training and fitness, The Tapeta™ Gallop for all weathers, fast work and light training, and the Grass Gallop for the finishing work which has been reseeded and irrigated this summer. This means the injury rate with Horses In Training is significantly reduced due to the variation of surfaces and reduced repetition. We are delighted that Newcastle and Wolverhampton both have or will have Tapeta™ tracks and we open the Langholm Gallops to the public to hire throughout the year.
New for this season 55 in training which is a record for us and as well as the older performers - a really exciting band of three and four year olds and the strongest group we have ever had to date. Big thanks to Clare and Paul Rooney such great supporters of so many sporting and charitable events in the borders and beyond. Their input in the yard is going to help put us on the map and we cannot emphasize enough the impact this will have on the yard. Paul and Clare have also sponsored four sets of Easyfix fences and hurdles for the youngsters. The jumps will be an invaluable training aid for the horses.
We are also putting in a new stable block with help from Beverley Bamford at the CX Project and bespoke salinized water walk through for washing horses off after exercise.
Our aims for the season ahead are to keep increasing the winners maximising each individual horses potential and prize money for our owners whilst maintaining a good strike rate of placed horses and winners to runners whilst ensuring our owners have enjoyment racing and with their yard visits which we encourage.
Dale Irving – sponsored by Global Quantum and Buck Racing has had a great start as a Conditional Jockey for the stable with five winners including his first outside winner and mostly placed horses and claims a valuable 7lbs. He was also Langholm Cornet this season doing the town of Langholm and his family proud.
We say a big thank you to our owners for their support of the stable and to yard sponsor, Graeme Reid of Global Quantum. And Kirk Wilson who has provided us with our sponsored clothing www.customteamwear.co.uk
Please keep a check on the website, Facebook and Twitter for updates and of course the popular ‘Lucy Blog’ giving an inside view of the goings on. Times have never been so exciting here at The Craig so don't be shy in picking up the phone for a visit - the door is always open and why not join the newsletter on our website page or look into the syndicates we are putting together for the season ahead.
Good luck everyone.
James and Briony
